It has been a bright, productive June 16 in the greenhouse. As the sun climbed throughout the morning, ambient temperatures rose from a cool 21.05°C to a midday peak of 27.79°C. Light levels surged alongside the heat, reaching 1133.3 lux and providing ample energy for our growing herbs.

Our plants are responding well to the warmth, though soil moisture levels are beginning to diverge across the pots. While the basil remains fully saturated at 100%, the chilli and oregano are gradually drying out as they work through the afternoon. The oregano’s moisture, in particular, dipped from a morning high of 63.32% to 52.5% by 1:00 PM.

Interestingly, the herbs’ internal temperatures have remained lower than the surrounding air. The oregano peaked at 23.69°C, while the chilli stayed even cooler at 23°C. This natural regulation occurred as humidity levels dipped from 51.4% to a drier 40.2% during the warmest part of the day.

With atmospheric pressure holding steady at 1009 hPa, the greenhouse environment remains remarkably stable. We are keeping a close eye on the oregano to see if it needs a drink before the sun sets, but for now, the herbs are simply soaking up the June glow.
