The sun shone brightly this afternoon, pushing light levels high and driving the temperature up. Ambient heat climbed from a comfortable 23°C in the morning to a peak of 25.6°C by midday, while the basil plant warmed along with the environment to reach 24.2°C.

Despite the sunshine, the air inside the greenhouse felt quite dry. Humidity dropped steadily from 41.3% down to a low of 34.8% around noon before stabilizing near 36% as the day wound down. This drier air caused the plants to use up their moisture reserves quickly.

The chilli plant felt the effects most, with soil moisture dipping from 54% down to 47.5%. While the basil and oregano held their ground in the mid-to-high 50s percent range, the combination of heat and low humidity has created a thirstier environment than usual.

No alarms were triggered, but it is worth keeping an eye on the chilli plant over the next few hours. If the dry trend continues and the temperature stays high, a light misting or a quick top-up might be needed to keep those leaves happy. We will check back in tomorrow morning to see how the plants recovered.
