Midday Warmth and Bright Skies
It has been a bright, warming morning at the greenhouse this May 19th. Between 6:00 AM and 12:30 PM UTC, ambient temperatures climbed steadily from a cool 19.28°C to a peak of 25.81°C. This shift was accompanied by a significant surge in light levels, which jumped from 176.7 lux to a brilliant 1615 lux, signaling a highly productive window for photosynthesis.
Our herbs are responding well to these shifting conditions. The basil saw the most movement in soil moisture, peaking at 71.04% early in the day before settling to 57.14% as the afternoon approached. Meanwhile, the chilli and oregano remained more consistent; the chilli soil moisture averaged 56.26%, while the oregano stayed slightly drier, ending the period at 43.02%.
As the temperature rose, humidity levels naturally dipped from a morning high of 48.4% to 38.5% by midday. The internal temperatures of the plants stayed cooler than the surrounding air, with both the basil and oregano reaching approximately 22°C. The system’s water temperature also remained stable, averaging 19.51°C to provide a consistent environment for the root systems.
Though specific reservoir data wasn’t recorded during this window, current moisture levels suggest the plants are well-hydrated. Atmospheric pressure has held steady near 999 hPa as we move through the rest of the day. Stay tuned to herbhub365.com for our next update.
