The afternoon sun brought a noticeable shift to the greenhouse environment today. We started with a gentle breeze and humidity hovering around 40%, but as light levels climbed, the air quickly dried out. By 16:30, average humidity settled into the low 30s, with the driest moments dipping to 33.3%. It is a classic spring day where the plants are working hard to transpire in the warming air.

Inside the growing beds, temperatures responded predictably to the sunlight. The overall greenhouse temperature warmed steadily from a cool 19.7°C in the early morning to a pleasant 26.4°C by mid-afternoon. Our individual plants tracked along with this rise, with basil and oregano reaching their peak warmth near 24.5°C, while the chilli plants stayed just a fraction cooler.

Moisture levels across the board showed a slight decline as the plants drank up the day’s heat. The basil, which started at 37% moisture, dipped to 33.5% by the end of the day, a gentle reminder to keep an eye on watering schedules as the season progresses. The oregano saw a similar small drop from 50% to 48%, while the chilli plants remain comfortably hydrated in the high 70s, acting as a stable anchor in the bed.

Light exposure was significant today, peaking well over 1,200 lux in the brightest moments, though we ended the day with diminishing light levels as evening approached. With pressure holding steady around 1,011 hPa, conditions are stable and favorable for growth. We are keeping a close watch on the basil’s moisture content to ensure it stays happy as the afternoon heat continues to build.
