March 28: A Steady Start to a Sunny Day in the Greenhouse
The morning at Herb Hub 365 began with crisp, stable air just after seven o’clock. The greenhouse settled into a comfortable twenty degrees Celsius while humidity stayed low between thirty-nine and forty percent. This dry early spring atmosphere means we must keep an eye on thirsty plants as the sun climbs higher.
Light conditions improved steadily throughout the session, rising from 126 lux at dawn to a bright 217 lux by eight-thirty. While these numbers seem modest compared to full daylight, they represent a significant increase in energy for our seedlings and herbs waking up after the night cycle. Outside pressure remained steady at 1016 hPa, indicating calm weather that allows us to focus entirely on internal plant health without worrying about sudden storms or rapid temperature swings.
Our soil moisture sensors tell an interesting story between species. Basil remains comfortably hydrated with levels holding strong in the low eighties percent range, showing no signs of stress from its recent watering. However, chilli and oregano are drawing down their reserves noticeably; while still safe for now at roughly forty to forty-four percent, they will need attention soon as evaporation rates pick up during these brighter hours.
The water reservoir itself stayed cool at a steady seventeen-point-nine degrees Celsius throughout the monitoring window, acting as an effective heat sink for the greenhouse floor. With no alerts triggered and all plant temperatures tracking closely with their respective environments, today stands as another successful day of passive growth management. We will continue to monitor those drier patches in the chilli bed before the afternoon sun peaks later this week.
