August 20: Morning Growth and Rising Light

Today at Herb Hub 365, we observed a steady morning transition between 6:00 AM and 8:30 AM. As the sun climbed, light levels surged from 647 lux to a bright peak of 2,527 lux. This shift was accompanied by a comfortable warming trend, with the greenhouse temperature rising from 20.96°C to 24.58°C by the end of our observation period.
The basil continues to show impressive vigor, its broad, vibrant green leaves filling the left side of the frame. The chilli plant is a particular highlight today; a ripening orange chilli is nestled among the foliage, while a smaller green pepper is visible higher up. While the overall greenery looks lush, the chilli leaves currently display a lighter, more yellowish-green hue compared to the deep greens of the basil.
Soil moisture levels began their daily decline as the plants transpired in the morning light. The oregano pot saw a notable decrease, dropping from 34.12% to 27.98%. Interestingly, the chilli sensor remains at a constant 100%, suggesting either very saturated conditions in that container or a sensor reading at its maximum limit.
As the temperature rose, the greenhouse humidity naturally dipped from a morning high of 55% to 46.8%. Air pressure remained remarkably stable throughout the morning, hovering consistently between 998 and 999 hPa. It has been a productive start for the herb garden, and the ripening fruit on the chilli plant is a wonderful sign of the current environmental balance.
