Afternoon Sun at Herb Hub 365
It has been a bright morning in the greenhouse this May 8th. Since our first readings at 06:00 UTC, the environment transitioned from a cool 20.96°C to a warm 27.02°C by midday. This steady climb in temperature was accompanied by a drop in humidity, which started at 41.1% and settled at 31.8% as the afternoon approached.
Light levels provided the day’s real story, jumping from an early 200 lux to a peak of 1250 lux. This surge of sunlight naturally warmed the herb beds, leaving the basil, chilli, and oregano in soil temperatures between 23.19°C and 23.75°C. These conditions offer a comfortable and productive growing environment during the peak hours of the day.
As the greenhouse warmed, soil moisture dipped slightly across all plants. The basil saw the most significant change, moving from 67.52% down to 61.5%, while the oregano remains the most hydrated at 75.88%. The chilli stayed relatively consistent, ending the observation period at 52.59% moisture.
Everything remains healthy and stable as we move through the afternoon. With atmospheric pressure holding steady at 1013 hPa, conditions are calm and predictable. We will continue to monitor moisture levels to ensure the basil and oregano stay satisfied in the lingering heat.
