Herb Hub 365 Afternoon Update: A Dry and Bright Start

The greenhouse day began with a gentle morning atmosphere, though the air was noticeably dry. As the sun rose, humidity started at a comfortable 42.9% but dropped steadily throughout the afternoon, ending the monitoring period at 35.5%. This drying trend was accompanied by a warming environment, with ambient temperatures climbing from a mild 21.09°C in the early morning to a peak of 23.02°C by mid-afternoon.
Light levels proved to be the most dynamic factor this afternoon. Starting in the dim light of dawn at just 96.7 lux, the sensors recorded a brightening world as the sun climbed, peaking at over 1130 lux before settling back down to 406.7 lux as the day wound down. Despite the rising heat and dropping moisture in the air, pressure remained stable around 1011 hPa, indicating calm weather conditions inside the glass.
Inside the pots, the plants held their ground well against the changing conditions. Soil moisture readings showed that our basil and chilli plants remained comfortably hydrated, hovering in the low 90s and mid-80s respectively. The oregano was the driest of the trio but still held onto over 82% moisture, while the water reservoir temperature mirrored the ambient warmth to ensure a steady thermal environment for the roots.
Overall, the afternoon was a study in gradual change. The air dried out and the light intensified, creating a classic spring greenhouse experience. While the humidity dipped below the ideal range for some sensitive herbs, the soil reserves held strong and the temperature never spiked into dangerous territory. It was a steady, productive day for the green team.
