The greenhouse experienced a dynamic range of conditions today. Air temperatures climbed from a morning low of 20°C to a pleasant afternoon peak of 25°C, while humidity remained steady at around 46%. Light levels reached their height earlier in the day at over 2,300 lux before mellowing significantly as the sun dipped in the late afternoon.

Visually, the highlight of the hub is a bright, ripening orange chilli hanging prominently among the foliage. While the basil continues to show lush growth, we have noticed some yellowing across both the basil and chilli leaves. A few leaf tips on the chilli plant also show signs of browning, likely a response to the shifting environmental conditions.

The most significant change this afternoon is a sharp decline in soil moisture. After recording a saturated 100% this morning, sensor readings for the basil, chilli, and oregano dropped to 0% by late afternoon. This suggests the plants moved through their available water quickly during the warmest part of the day.

Despite the dry soil readings, the plants remain upright and the chilli fruit looks vibrant. Without current data from the water reservoir, we are relying on these visual cues and soil sensors to monitor the hub’s health. We will be keeping a close eye on hydration levels as we head into the evening.
