It has been a bright and steady day in the greenhouse this September 8th. As the morning progressed into the early afternoon, we saw a clear warming trend. The air temperature climbed from a cool 20.27°C at daybreak to a peak of 24.95°C by 12:30 PM. This rise in temperature was accompanied by a gradual decrease in humidity, which started at a comfortable 51.7% and settled around 39.6% as the midday sun reached its height.

The light levels followed a similar upward curve, peaking at 2372.5 lux around noon. Despite the increased warmth and light, our soil moisture readings have remained perfectly consistent. The basil, chilli, and oregano are all currently sitting at 100% moisture, ensuring the root systems have plenty of hydration to handle the afternoon heat.

Looking at the latest snapshot, the greenery is looking very full and lush. The basil in the foreground shows off its characteristic broad leaves, while the chilli plant is showing some exciting progress with a bright orange pepper clearly visible in the background. We are keeping an eye on a few of the leaves that show some slight yellowing and a small amount of browning at the tips, but the overall vigour of the plants remains strong.

The individual plant temperatures for the basil, chilli, and oregano have stayed slightly cooler than the surrounding air, averaging around 19.7°C. This suggests the herbs are transpiring effectively and managing the environment well. It is a peaceful, productive afternoon here at Herb Hub 365 as we head toward the evening.
