Afternoon Greenhouse Glow

As the sun crossed the sky this August 17th, the Herb Hub 365 greenhouse saw a surge in activity. Light levels climbed from a dim morning start of 98.3 lux to a bright peak of 5580.8 lux, fueling the plants for the day ahead. This abundance of energy brought a steady rise in temperature, reaching a warm afternoon high of 26.6°C.
The chilli plant is today’s standout, showcasing a vibrant orange pepper ripening near the center and another green one developing in the background. While some of the chilli’s leaves show a slightly lighter, yellowish hue, the neighboring basil remains a deep, lush green, crowding the left side of the container with healthy growth.
Soil moisture readings reflect a busy day of growth and evaporation. While the chilli plant remains fully saturated at 100%, the basil and oregano have been drinking steadily; the basil’s moisture dipped from 69.4% to 63.8%, and the oregano settled at 72.2%. Humidity also balanced out as the heat rose, dropping from a damp 55.6% to a comfortable 45.7%.
Everything in the hub looks vigorous as we move into the evening. The plants have made the most of the stable conditions and ample light, heading into the night healthy, hydrated, and ready for tomorrow.
