July 31st brought a significant surge of solar energy to the greenhouse. While the morning began with a soft glow of 730 lux, the brightness peaked at a brilliant 13,897 lux by midday. This influx of light is clearly fueling the plants, visible in the vibrant green canopy currently filling the frame.

With the intense light came a notable rise in temperature. The air inside climbed from a cool 20.9°C in the early hours to a peak of 32.4°C by the afternoon. This heat caused the humidity to dip significantly, dropping from 43.9% to 23.6% and creating a much drier environment as the day progressed.

The basil and chilli plants are the stars of today’s update. On the left, the basil looks exceptionally lush with broad, healthy leaves reaching upward. To the right, the chilli plant is showing off its progress; a small, firm green chilli is developing near the top of the stem, currently supported by a wooden stake.

Despite the afternoon heat, soil moisture for the basil, chilli, and oregano remained steady at 100%. Soil temperatures followed the air’s lead, warming from roughly 16°C to 22°C. Everything in the greenhouse is soaking up the summer sun while staying perfectly hydrated.
