Mid-Summer Momentum at Herb Hub 365

It has been a bright and warm Wednesday here at the greenhouse. As we moved through the morning of July 8th, the environment saw a steady climb in temperature, reaching a peak of 28.13°C just after midday. The humidity followed an inverse path, starting at a comfortable 52.6% in the early hours and drying out to 33.2% as the sun reached its highest point, creating a very active growing climate for our herbs.
Light levels were quite dynamic today, showing a significant jump in brightness that peaked at 5523.3 lux around noon. This burst of midday sun provided plenty of energy for the plants, even as the atmospheric pressure remained perfectly steady at 1015 hPa throughout the entire session. By the mid-afternoon, the light had softened considerably, marking the end of the day’s peak intensity.
Our soil sensors tell an interesting story of hydration today, particularly for the oregano. While the plant started the morning quite thirsty with a moisture reading of 63.2%, a watering event before noon brought it up to a much healthier 93.27%. Meanwhile, the basil continues to sit at a constant 100% moisture level, and the chilli plant remains stable and well-hydrated, hovering consistently around 87%.
Looking at the latest snapshot, the growth is wonderful to see. The basil on the left is looking incredibly lush and vibrant with its deep green, waxy leaves. In the center, the chilli plant is standing tall with the help of a wooden support stake. While its leaves are a lighter, lime-green shade, it is proudly showing off a distinct, dark green chilli pepper hanging near the top of the frame.
The oregano is also visible in the background, filling in the lower spaces with its smaller, rounded leaves. Overall, the greenhouse remains a productive and stable environment. With the oregano now topped up and the basil thriving, the herbs are well-positioned for the heat of the summer.
