Morning Vitality in the Greenhouse: May 20, 2026
The greenhouse hummed with activity throughout the early morning hours of May 20th. Between 6:00 AM and 8:30 AM, we saw the environment wake up as the light levels climbed steadily from a dim 231.7 lux to a much brighter 741.7 lux. This increase in natural light was accompanied by a gentle rise in ambient temperature, which started at 21.43°C and reached a peak of 22.04°C by the end of our morning observation window.
The soil moisture readings told an interesting story of hydration shifts across our different herbs. Our basil plants saw a notable increase in moisture, starting the morning at 46.03% and rising to 51.8%. This suggests the basil is well-positioned for the day ahead. Meanwhile, the chilli and oregano containers showed a gradual drying trend; the chilli moisture moved from 54.07% down to 48.72%, and the oregano dropped from 39.47% to 33.62%.
In terms of plant-specific temperatures, the herbs remained remarkably consistent and slightly cooler than the surrounding air. The basil, chilli, and oregano all averaged between 20.5°C and 20.7°C, showing very little fluctuation despite the warming environment. The water temperature followed suit, maintaining a steady average of 20.61°C, ensuring a stable environment for the roots.
General atmospheric conditions remained stable and comfortable for growth. Humidity levels hovered in a narrow range between 42.6% and 45.9%, averaging about 44% for the morning. Barometric pressure was also steady, sitting between 1006 and 1008 hPa. It was a calm, predictable start to the day at Herb Hub 365, providing the perfect foundation for our herbs to thrive.
