Monday Afternoon Update: Warmth and Growth at Herb Hub 365
It has been a productive Monday in the greenhouse as we track our plants through the peak of the day on May 18, 2026. Since the early morning, the environment transitioned from a cool 19.43°C to a warm afternoon high of 26.22°C. Light levels reached a bright maximum of 1845 lux, providing ample energy for growth before the afternoon shadows brought readings down to 160.8 lux by 5:30 PM UTC.
Our herbs have been active, with individual plant temperatures rising steadily alongside the ambient air. The basil, chilli, and oregano all started the day near 19°C and warmed to highs between 23°C and 24°C. The water temperature followed a similar trend, beginning at 19°C and reaching 21.25°C by late afternoon, ensuring the root systems remained comfortably warm throughout the heat of the day.
Soil moisture levels indicate that the plants have been drinking steadily. The basil saw the most significant change, moving from a lush 66.45% moisture to 56.72% by the end of the period. Currently, the oregano is the driest of the group at 42.21%, while the chilli has remained the most stable, dipping only slightly from its morning high to finish at 54.84%.
The atmosphere inside the hub became notably drier as the day progressed, with humidity settling at 37.3% after a damp morning high of 44.4%. A consistent air pressure of 1005 hPa indicates a stable environment for our herbs as evening approaches. For more live updates, stay tuned to herbhub365.com.
