Greenhouse Update: April 15, 2026

The afternoon sun brought a noticeable rise in warmth to the Herb Hub 365 greenhouse today. Temperatures climbed steadily from a comfortable 22.5°C at the start of the monitoring period to a peak of 25.2°C by midday. The basil plants tracked closely with the ambient air, reaching 23°C, while the chilli and oregano remained slightly cooler, hovering around 22.5°C.
Despite the heat, the water reservoir stayed steady at approximately 20°C, keeping the root zones stable. Light levels played a significant role in the greenhouse atmosphere, swinging from the dimness of early morning to a bright peak of 1167 lux around noon before dipping back down to 634 lux as the day progressed.
Humidity levels were on the lower side for a spring day, averaging just under 40% and ending the period at 38.2%. This dry air likely contributed to the slight cooling effect observed in the final readings as the sun began to set.
Soil moisture tells a different story for each of our companions. The chilli plants are thriving with excellent hydration, maintaining levels between 72% and 74%, while the oregano sits in a healthy middle ground ranging from 44% to 46%.
However, the basil has been using more water than the others, with its soil moisture dropping from 32.45% to 29.79%. While not yet critical, the basil is showing signs of thirst and may need a top-up soon to keep up with the drying air.
